It’s that time of year again! The end of summer vacations and the beginning of school where the youngsters are so filled with enthusiasm to be back in classes. The baseball season is nearing its annual rhythm of play-offs and then the BIG Classic-the World Series! Of course the usual favorite teams are on the gridiron, and by now, most folks have picked which teams will finally end up in the championship games.
But wait a minute! There is more that we need to have in our soundscape at this time of year. We all know that this is Hurricane Season and that means more to some of us than it does to others of us. However, we ALL face the threat of a disaster of some kind or another at any given moment.
September is National Preparedness Month. With that in mind, The Office of Disaster Preparedness encourages all citizens to STOP-LISTEN-PREPARE. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Ready Campaign has very helpful data that will at lease create a culture of awareness that we should follow the following preparedness steps:

Mitigation can lessen the damage that one incurs in the event of a disaster. Remember, It only takes o-n-e to spell D-i-s-a-s-t-e-r!
